The government has put in place stringent measures to ensure Antibiotics and Antiretrovirals are prescription drugs only and not those one can acquire over the counter. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation said that the ministry has started to train health workers to prescribe and give proper dosage of drugs. He also warned against people prescribing medication to themselves without a doctor’s consultation saying it could lead to drug resistance.
