Civil society files case to invalidate Uhuru victory

A civil society organisation wants the election of Uhuru Kenyatta annulled because the election process was "obscure". The executive director of Africa Centre for Open Governance, Gladwell Otieno, has filed a petition with Zahid Rajan at the Supreme Court citing numerous irregularities by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission and its chair Issack Hassan. Other respondents in the petition are President-elect Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto. In their petition filed at the Supreme Court on Saturday by Kilonzo and Company Advocates, the petitioners cite multiple voter registers by the IEBC and the discrepancies between the principal register and the one used on March 4.
