Three chief magistrates were yesterday shown the door by the Judges and Magistrates Vetting Board. Chief magistrates Wilkinson Njagi (Narok), Walter Nyarima (Bungoma) and Margaret Gitonga (Busia) were dismissed by the Vetting board for unprofessionalism, incompetence and lack of due diligence. The vetting board, chaired by Sharad Rao, cleared 11 other magistrates and 13 judges who were recently promoted. The board faulted Njagi for passing a wrong sentence to a complainant while he was serving in Kerugoya. Njagi was accused disregarding the limit permitted by law in passing the sentence and doing nothing when he was made aware of the mistake.
