Three ex-journalists in Nyamira and Migori counties clinched victory in the just-concluded election. Former veteran radio presenter Alice Chae won the Nyamira County women representative seat by a landslide where she polled 72,562 votes. Chae formerly worked for national broadcaster KBC and later for Royal Media Services. Former Nakuru based The Standard regional editor Beauttah Omanga won the Bogichora Ward County Assembly representative seat after scooping 3,556 votes. Thomas Maneno was declared the winner of the newly created Kuria East parliamentary seat after a closely fought battle.
