New Law to Rein in NSIS Rogue Officers

MPs are planing to raise the punishment for intelligence officers who misuse their powers. The Parliamentary Defence and Foreign Relations Committee wants that officers who misuse their powers be fined sh5 million or face a 10 year jail term or both upon conviction. This is one of the proposals in the National Intelligence Service (NIS) Bill 2012 being awaited in parliament for debate.
