IDP Families Homeless

One hundred IDP families at Kasuku Camp in OlKalau have been rendered homeless after their tents were destroyed by heavy rains. The camp chairlady Joyce Wangari said they have since been forced to put up makeshift shelter. Most of the families according to Mrs. Wangari are homeless and the makeshift tents are also flooded. The IDP issue has been complicated by the government inability to resettle most of them, with only one year to the next general election. In related news the long awaited meeting between IDPs living in Mai Mahiu and the minister for Special programmes has been postponed indefinitely. Those who were planned to meet the minister were left in confusion after they were told the meeting had been cancelled. Last week the IDPs from the Jikaze camp were stopped by police who promised them that the minister would meet them and sort out their problems.
