Quarter of women in group discussions under the Kenya Service Provision Assessment Survey 2010, whose results were released, says at least one woman talked about abuse, lack of respect, neglect and general mistreatment they expected from nurses and doctors. This could partly explain why only 43 per cent of women give birth in healthcare facilities country wide. They say that good massaging skills and comfort offered by the traditional birth attendants are some reasons why they are preferred.
